Melbourne, Victoria
Okay, I'm cheating here. I'm using this thing to post my travel journal from my other blog, so most of the entries are from my previous travels -- just to fill in while I await my next chance of travelling.
Blog entry dates will be the day I first wrote about my travels. This one's about the time I went to Melbourne, Australia way back in June 2006....
I went for a short holiday trip to Melbourne with my mum from June 25-29th. We stayed with my mum's old schoolmate's family (who were reallyreally nice and accommodating) throughout our trip. They had also brought us around the city and a few other places, including the beach in Frankston along the Mornington Peninsula, and the Dandenong Ranges where we fed some parrots and rode on the Puffing Billy steam train.
In the Melbourne City itself, we went to several places including the National Gallery of Victoria; Federation Square (i think); picnicked at one of the beautiful gardens where we ate home-made nasi lemak in the middle of the Australian winter; took a river cruise that cuts across the city, walked the entire length (and back) of the Lygon Street in search of the-best-ever-gelati (according to Yishyene) only to find the Il Dolce Freddo closed on Mondays - we however managed to find another shop where we sat and ate two small cups of gelati; visited the Melbourne Aquarium and goggled at the thousands of colorful fishes, jellyfish, sharks and stingrays; window-shopped at the various shopping malls around Melbourne City; and spent loads of Australian money on souvenirs at the Queen Victoria Market.
So, that's my Melbourne trip in a nutshell. It has been too long to remember the details and write out a day-to-day commentary, so the pics (click "photos" above) should give a rough idea of what I did and saw during my trip. Besides, pictures can say a thousand words. Or something like that. Enjoy 'em, mate.
