I ride on my horse in search of the Green Chapel. I saw no chapel, but I saw a low green mound beside the rushing stream; and I heard a sound as of a scythe upon a grindstone. (Pg. 97) I came to the conclusion that this was the Green Chapel. I jumped off my horse and walked down the stream side. I called out " Who waits here, to keep tryst with me?" (Pg.97 ) The Green Knight replied " wait but a little, when my weapon is sharp I shall be with you as promised. " He walked out with a new shiny axe in his hand. He said he's ready to repay me for what I did to him in Camelot. Fear was racing in my body of the thought of the axe cutting through my flesh. He swung the axe down, I flinched and he laughed. I told him I wouldn't flinch again. Again, he swung the axe, but yet another pause. The Green Knight was testing me. I was getting impatient. The last swing and he gently scratched my neck. I jumped up and challenged him, but all he did was laugh. I was confused. He explained and revealed himself. He was the lord of the castle, I kept my promise except about the green lace, he understood I was just trying to save my life. I was ashamed but he told me not to be.
