Woke up and had a great breakfast at the hotel with the whole gang, Cathi, Kevin, Gary, Steve and Franco. Then it was off to the tailor. I picked out a beautiful tan suit for Greg with a blue shirt. I also ordered him another shirt and pants.... All going with the suit jacket.
Then it was off to the Royal Palace. We took the train and then walked through a street market to get to the palace. Kevin, boldly purchased "meat on a stick" from one vendor.
We entered the palace grounds and saw "what inspired the King.". Our guide should us around. And told use interesting facts about what we were seeing. It was so hot and humid...combined with the jet lag, I didn't retain much of what the guide had to say. At the Palace we met up with a former work colleague of Greg's who now lives in Bangkok. Pim was born in Thailand and lived in the US for 13 years. Pim met up with us at the Palace. Then the seven of us rode on two Tuk Tuks to an air conditioned restaurant. Pim just hoped on the side and we sped off to the restaurant. The place Pim picked was great.. On the river with air conditioning. Pim was generous, she insisted paying for everything for all six of us. She is a truly lovely person. I will not forget her generosity. We took a boat, then train back to the hotel and it was off to the Blue Elephant for dinner. I ordered a cocktail with Hot chilies. It was the spiciest thing I have every had, but I loved it. As I was drinking it I could feel the congestion that had been bothering me for days leaving me. The food was good. The dessert plate came with a durian fruit cheese cake. Durian taste horrible... Like what you would think roofing tar taste like. Cabs have sign on them saying "no Durian fruit" for very good reason.
