Well what a day!
We went to the Lourve first to have a look and I'm not joking when I say the queue was over 400 m long to get in. So we left there and bought a bus ticket where u can hope off and on for 48 hrs and it also included a river cruise. It goes around the general points of interest as well as commentary. After a full loop (2 hrs) we had lunch at a cafe near Notre Dam. I had French onion soup and a large bottle of water as it was very warm at around 28 degs. We did the river cruise in the arvo which went from just near the Eiffel tower and returned an hr later. We then jumped back on the bus and back to Notre Dam with a short walk to some restaurants near out hotel to have our last supper as the others leave us tomoz to go to Honkers.
Something's I saw/ learnt today :
- gypsy kids can be scarred away by saying polite ( police) when pointing to a bit of paper asking for money for a hearing aid whilst doing actions to indicate they are deaf. My uncle did this and when the kids turned around he said " funny you can hear that"
- there are not lanes in roundabouts and it's chaos which helps me understand more about their culture.
- with motorbikes they have "skirts" which go over their knees for warmth / wind resistance
- witnessed the police chase gypsy sellers for rogue merchandise.
- feel so much safer not carrying a back pack around as there are a lot of dodgy people around.
The photo is of a bridge with padlocks as couples do it together as a Symbol of love. Both sides of the bridge and te full length were covered just like the movies! We also say another bridge where this is happening a this one is out of room.
Bring on another interesting day I say!
