A few hours in the Criminal Museum learning all about crime, punishment and torture in medieval times (complete with all the associated actual instruments and, uh... "furniture"...*shudder*) through the 1800s was morbidly fascinating.
Andy and I snuck away from the group to have a crisp and refreshing weis wein (the region is known for it) while sitting outdoors at a cafe on the mark platz (town square) while people watching. Toasted to a already unforgettable trip.
And we're only one country in!
Before starting the long drive to Munich we stopped by the biggest Christmas shop I've ever seen. Kinda neat in the first couple of rooms, then just nauseating for the next 4 dozen. But picked up some pretty cool handmade souvenirs.
En route to Munich Andy took it up to 220 km/hr on the autobahn.... And STILL almost got run over. Thankfully this is a country full of courteous and respectful drivers (so far) even if they DO drive like they're trying to beat the land speed record every time they get behind the wheel. And that is NOT an exaggeration in the slightest.
Had a mediocre dinner here in Munich. Ordered a gyro (at an "international restaurant" as some of us needed a break from the heavy Bavarian fare) and out came an odd sautéed pork and beef concoction with yogurt sauce and half a loaf of bread.
Hoping to do better tomorrow as this city has some great restaurants, or so I've read.
