I am back in Kuta spending my last day in Indonesia. I am sick and it has been raining the whole day (it is the rainy season here) so I suppouse it is good time to say bye to Indonesia. But don't get me wrong the past week has been great fun. In Ubud I got my driver and motorbike and had super fun driving around visiting temples, a elephant cave, seeing beautiful rice terasses and a great view of a volcano. My driver was also a funny guy and told me a lot about the local life. He also made me give a English lesson to is friend on the phone and constantly joking around. It was a great day and got even better when I ended the day with massage, aloevera scrub and herbal bath...the ultimate relaxiation.
So next morning around 7 am I was ready for the long trip to Gili Trawanga. It is a small island outside the Lombok island that is next to Bali. Ten hours later after 2 minibus rides and one big ferry and a small boat ride I was on Gili Trawanga and it was raining. Together with two Brazilians, Ricardo and Max, and a Canaidian called Jeff that I meet on the smaller boat we found a cheap room and got a roof over us so we could dry up. The next days it would be the same, sun during the day but rain in the evening...and nothing ever dryes.
But Gili Trawangan was a place in my size. Not to big, no cars just horse carriges and you could walk around the island in a couple of hours. Right away we got friends with the owners of our place. A funny 19 year old local guy was my faveorite. He was funny, but always stoned (I suppose there is not much else to do on the island...) and when he got to know my name he started to cll me mama :D
We got out and had dinner and found a shisha place. Everyone was alsao selling "very fresh mushrooms"...they even had adds outside the bars... After chilling out for a while we found the party place and meet a lot of other people who had been on the small boat. We also learned to know some more locals and I meet two Norwedian girls I had partied earlier with in Kuta. The next day you walked on the only "street" you felt like you knew the whole island saying hello to everyone.
Next day started slowly but finally we got out snorkling and got a bit of the beach life and some sun. Jeff left allready back to Lombok to get back to Kuala Lumpur where he worked as a teacher. In the evening we wnt to the live reggei place Sama Sama and there we met Autina a Argentinian girl who agreed to join us for a dive the next day.
I did two fun dives the next day and Ricardo, Max and Autina dived the first time in their life. It was fun to se their exitement, nervousnes and feelings about the dive. I was also a bit nervous of the first dive, it was 2 years ago since I dived the last time... but it seams to be like bikeing after we got into the water everything was great and we mad 2 over 1 hour dives. On the first dive we saw up to 8 different turtles :D and a lot of other fish too. But I was quite jelous that the first timers saw two sharks in a cave that my group missen. Anyway it was a great day!
The sport fanatics Ricardo and Max wanted to se the final of Australian open. They actually live in Brisbane now, so I suppose they missed home :) We joined with Autina and it was quite a fun and exiting game. And the athmosphere in the Irish pub was nice. And in the end we ended up via the Irish bar back to Sama Sama again :D
On my last day we took a walk around the island. I gould not swim or snorkle because my feet had got blistards from the fins the last day and they were geting infected. I really tryed to keep them clean but it was almost impossible with the sand and the rain in the evenings. In the evening I started to get a bit fever, but I still wanted to party the last night with my new friends. Got pretty late to bed, but had a fun time and I managed to get up 7 am again to get back to Kuta. Now it was raining the whole day. First I got wet on the small boat, and ofcourse my wounds didn't like that. Then a couple of hours in the mini bus and up on the very crowded ferry. And the way back was not nice. It was wet and my fever started to rise...inside it was bad air and outside wet. I found a almost dry spot on the deck but in the middle of the way the rain really got in everywhere. Me and a seasick women with her husband got finally invited into the captains deck...we were right out side the dor trying to kepp dry, so I suppose they pitied us. It was quite good because at this point I was feeling really bad. We even got some tea and it was very nice and comfortable...I fell asleep. Then it was time to run trough the rain again from the ferry to the last shuttle bus and finally 7 pm I was back in Kuta. Just to make it easy I went back to the same hotel and then I got a ride to the Medical Clinic to see the doctor. It felt more like beeing at a cosmetolg than beeing in the hospital. Very nice surrounding and yong beautifu nurse and doctor. They cleaned my wounds and gave me 4 different medicines, becaue added to the feever my nose was also running and troath hurting. I got some food to be able to take the medicine and got straight to bed.
Today i still have fever and I have tride to relax and stay in my room. It's okay because it's been raining anyway. I also hope I get my laundry back soon and hope it is dry :D I also spent a lot of time at internet fixing everything for the next leg. Because tomorrow it is time to move onward to India and meet Walla and Nanna there. I am very exited to see if I hate or love India... I have hered it dose not leave you indifferent!
So I leave Indonesia with happy toughts, I can imagine to come back to explore more, but I am also happy to leave the rain...hoping it's more dry in India, even if I actually have no clue :D
