Kia ora! I write from Nz capital wellington. It is a nice change from the small touristy towns I've been visiting, but it is still a rather small city for it being the capital imo. I would say that it is similar to san francisco. I've never been to sf though..Haha. But it has that sophisticated city by the sea charm about it.
This morning i went to Te papa, nz museum. Admission was free and these days im all about free entertainment because im sort of blowing my budget..mainly on food. 30 a day on food adds up. I think i will have to start shopping at supermarkets for instant meals. Cheap and easy. And there's always mcd's.
After a few hours exploring the 5 floors of the museum, my favorite of which was the art exhibit, i visited the library. There were free art exhibits there as well. So i lingered there, pretended to know about art and looked deep in thought at a cardboard box.
I got lost and came upon the buildings of parliament. Afterwards i took a cable car up to the botanical gardens. Had a good view of the harbor, but the gardens weren't so botanical just trees. After about 15 minutes i took the cable car back down.
Just had maccas for dinner and im chilling back at the hostel. This is the nicest YHA hostel I've been in so far. Clean and secure like a hotel. There are 3 bunk beds in our tiny room and the shower/bathroom is across the hall. At least this time its an all female dorm. I was in a mixed 8 bed dorm in taupo.
Hostelling feels like dorm life, with a bit of the rustic feel of camping. Sometimes the 'clean' sheets don't really look that clean, or you doubt the effectiveness of the door lock. Gotta deal with cramped quarters, sleeping on top bunks, open window for air as so far there is no ac, boys who snore.. Just the basic accommodation. No frills or luxury. It doesn't bother me and i am enjoying it.
Gotta get up early to catch the ferry to picton. The magic bus will pick us up from there and take us to nelson.
A dorm mate just told me about a bar here called arizona. Arizona theme, obviously. I am going to go try to find it before it gets dark. No worries, long days here. Sun doesn't set til about half nine. Haha. The english phrasing is rubbing off on me.
Hope all is good at Home. How are the suns doing? How is my puppy? I miss him. And you all too. :-P
