Wow! What a day! Started the bus tour. Met some cool people on the bus. Our first stop was in waitomo where we took a walking tour of glow worm caves. These caves were millions of years old.. limestone rock formations, stalactites, etc. I felt like i was in an indiana jones movie. The special thing about the caves is the glow worms that light up the ceilings. We took a boat ride in the dark cave and the ceiling looked like a planetarium because of the glow worms. Pretty cool. Our second stop where i am writing from is rotarua. Most of us then went to Wataki village, where we learned about maori culture. This was awesome! We witnessed maori traditions, songs, and dance. e.g. Maori warriors stick out their tongues to intimidate their enemies. They bug out their eyes too. It can be scary! We were served a buffet dinner. Delicious. I am really glad i went on this excursion because the people were so genuine and proud of their culture. Plus the singing and dances were very entertaining. Kia ora! (Maori greeting) We arrived back at the hostel at around ten and a few of us hung out at the bar and chatted. Everyone appears to be on a round the world trip. mostly all are traveling alone too, including the women ive befriended. So im making friends but everyone is free to choose how long they stay in each city so the group changes. Im staying two nights here. Rotorua has geothermal pools and hot springs. (smells like rotten eggs here due to the sulfur) Will check that out tomo. Hope everything is good back Home. Getting sleepy. Night.
