Adam - CAMPING WOOOOOO! Or not. Alas, the tent is no more. Long story, so I'll tell you.
Things were going well. Tent went up in less than five minutes. Wasn't very comfortable but still good fun. Dauphin Island is a strange, slightly backward place, but very very beautiful. On a high after the dolphins and its all good. Yesterday was a very strange day - it spent all day attempting to rain but never quite managing to get above a weird horrible spray (yes mum, one that soaks you through).
Had a wander through some the little trails with some stunning scenery. Quiet little beach is only five minutes from our tent, and there is a bird sanctuary next to it as well - not many birds because they're mostly migratory. Not til next month!). We did see some cool little turtles though, but no alligators. Also five minutes away is Fort Gaines, site of the Battle of Mobile Bay (of "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead" fame). Interesting stuff.
Trouble starts when we get back to the tent. Thunderstorms!!! Thunderbolts and lighting, very very frightening. Not as we know it either, the sort that gets you bolt upright at regular intervals. Anyhow, some overlarge specimens of spider flee into our tent and the seams start leaking.
So that's a night in the wonderfully comfortable (NOT) reclined seats of our Toyota Camry, and the tent in the bin in the morning. Suppose that's what you get when you buy a $20 tent!
Bye for now,

Amy - Hmmmmm well I was very good even excited at first it was hot on the first day and a beautiful place the showers where ok so I was fine- the nights sleep wasn't the best but your basically sleeping on the ground but all in all I was thinking camping was good . But that second day it was cold and it was spitting and still I didn't have a face on mum you would off been proud of me! Dad you would off been shocked!!So that night we get some wood and some really good kindling and we make a fire with wood paper and a lighter we didn't even have lighter fluid it was ace really really cool and you couldn't see anybody else it was pitch black apart from our fire ( we have a video). Get to bed and the thunder and lighting starts never seen anything like it!! Off course we are under a tree so I'm thinking s*** lol and the thunder made me sit upright BOOM BOOM that kind off thunder so anyway I bolt up and this huge spider is hanging in front of my face I did very well got Adam it scared Adam that's how big it was you could see its pincers (i wouldn't be surprised if was poisonous) I got up and went in the car and that was my camping experience lol. I would do it again if it was warm just the spider really freaked me out
