After 4 hours on the road from Brisbane We arrived in Noosa!! Seems A pretty cool place, lots of designer shops, beach and a Subway! We spent much of today lazing on the beach, so I can't complain!
My Weekend in Brisbane......First full day In Brisbane & we went on a tour of the XXXX brewery, turned out to be a really cool afternoon & we got to sample a few of them too! We had to get back quite early though because We had tickets to an AFL game & Mike was off to watch the Rugby League! We went to the Gabba cricket stadium for the AFL (Ozzy Rules Football)! After a bit of a wild goose chase regarding our tickets, the seats we were given were the best in the house! The ground was packed & the atmosphere was buzzing!
Brisbane Lions Vs Collingwood FC was an AMAZING game, end to end for the full 2hrs! A really close game with Brisbane fighting back in the last quarter to win by just 2 points!!! When the final whistle blew the crows went POTTY & we all rushed onto the pitch, everyone was playing AFL, there were footballs flying everywhere! As a game, AFL involves A LOT more skill & tactics than I first thought! I REALLY ENJOYED IT! A particular highlight was being heckled by Collingwood fans as I wore my new Brisbane shirt! which made us laugh! Other than that, all the fans were awsome & the season ticket holders around us were trying to explain the rules to us! the whole day was unforgettable! After the game we headed back to the hostel bar, where I knew everyone in there form different parts of my travels - it was MAD!!
Had a pretty lazy day on Saturday, we decided against the theme park because it was further away than we first thought! So we had a day kicking round the city centre shopping & grabbing some food. That night we had a bit of a guided tour around 'the valley' which is an area of bars in the city. It was pretty cool & we found some funky bars!
On Sunday, after grabbing some food we checked out the south bank of the river! It's one of the best parts of Brisbane, with riverside bars, marketplace, a man made beach & a peace temple. It is also home to the university campus & art galleries. There was an Andy Warhol gallery on that week so we checked that out, it was pretty cool to see the original Marylin Monroe & Soup pieces!
That night COHEED & CAMBRIA at the Tivoli!!!! For those of you who don't already know, Coheed & Cambria are my favorite band EVER! When I got into the venue...It was TINY!! which made the night even better! The support (Closure in Moscow) were really good & when Coheed came on stage, I was further foreword than the front row due to the arrangement of the venue!! (if that makes sense? - There was only 3/4 of a front barrier)
COHEED & CAMBRIA WERE AMAZING (as always) They had 3 backing singers & keys playing with them!! They played an AWSOME set, with everything from Delerium Trigger & A Favour House Atlantic to Feathers & The Running Free!! After leaving the stage with just A Gibson Explorer balanced on it. The crowd went mad for an encore! SERIOUSLY MAD, the atmosphere was amazing! Double headed Gibson SG in hand Claudio led the band back on stage to play Welcome Home & a 40 min jam of 'The Final Cut' complete with voicebox guitar solos, a bass solo & a drum solo that rivals Mickey Dee's!! AMAZING NIGHT ! !
Went back to the down under bar to have a few drinks with Andy & Oli before we leave them for a bit to head off to Noosa! The next few days should be cool! I am heading to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo tomorow!!
Love & Miss you all !
