Well we didn't go to the Thai Boxing last night as we got there so late and at 45GBP (tourist price of course) a ticket we thought we'd leave it for another night.
Instead we ended up on the (in)famous Khao San Road which was packed full of tourists, cheesy bars, market stalls and western eateries. We had a foot massage, some fantastic chicken kebab type thing from a street stall and plenty of beers in a few of the bars whilst we people watched. This time I succumbed and bought a pair of Diesel flip flops and a pair of A&F shorts totaling about 15GBP and I swear they are real because the quality is so good :)
Today we got up late again but in time for breakfast at the hostel before heading off to Wat Pho to see the Reclining Buddha which was quite ore inspiring! Thankfully I didn't need to put on trousers this time but Alex had to cover up completely only to find half the tourists in there were wearing less than she had been before (I don't think she was amused).
Then the compulsory visit to MBK which is Bangkok's largest shopping mall boasting all your favorite western eateries from Starbucks, KFC, Mcdonalds and Dunkin Donuts. I cant say I was impressed as the prices in the shops were much closer to those in the West and the merchandise much similar to that on many of the street markets (just more expensive). I finally picked up a Thai SIM card so I have Internet on the move!
Ok ok we had a KFC as well, it was just to compare and to be honest it wasn't that good at all although much cheaper. Theres absolutely no excuse to each at such places when you get much better food and cheaper at the local places.
After a long walk back we decided on a relaxed evening to prepare for checkout tomorrow and ultimately are sleeper train to Chiang Mai tomorrow night.
