We Landed in Sydney at 7.45am after an 8 hour flight from Bangkok. It was an ok flight but we were a bit gutted as it was the first flight since leaving the UK where we had someone next to us. I wouldn't have minded too much but the man was foriegn & over weight, his arms were hanging over the rests and entering my personal space lol! It made us laugh when we needed to go to the toilet because noone wanted to wake him up! I tapped him but he didn't move, we kept giggling and he finally woke up. We were bursting and there was no way we could climb over him.
Our Sydney Taxi was a rip off we paid £35.00 to travel 20 mins into the city. We were both a bit nervous about the hostel as we only paid £18.00 for the night. Even though it said double with ensuite we were worried we would still have to share. The hostel staff were lovely and they let us check in straight away. We had a room on the 1st floor, the hostel looked nice from what we had seen. However the corridor smelt of damp it wasn't nice at all. Backpakers are smelly lol! We put the key in the door and expected to walk into a shared dorm. It was a private room with bathroom and actually really big. Alot nicer then we imaged, it was more like a basic hotel simple, clean & modern. We got showered and Nadia came and picked us up at 1pm. She took us to a place on the beach for lunch, Adam had Pizza & i had salt & pepper Calamari. We had a nice catch up with Nadia and she took us to the Sydney Oprah House as we never went before. It was pretty and nice to look around at the views of the harbour. We took some photos and then we were ready to go back to the hostel. On the way back Nadia took a wrong turn and missed our street. We just said we would walk as she would have had to go round the one way system again. After a while of walking we couldn't see the hostel but we found Westpac bank. We went in to see if we could complete our registration. The lady in reception was lovely she welcomed us to Australia and asked where we were staying. We told her the Base on Kent st and she printed out a map so we could get back. Australians are really helpful people
We went to bed @ 6pm and slept until about 1am there was a karaoke party in the bar next door and it kept waking us up. We skyped the parents and packed everything away. We got to the airport @ 4am when it opens! we were the only people there apart from staff! Check in was so easy and was the smoothist flight yet which is suprising as we were with Jetstar.
