The Full moon party was awesome. We had amassed a pretty big group in the nights spent at our hotel so we had a warm up party in my room and drank buckets and covered each other in paint. The beach was rammed and every bar was playing a different style of music. Things started to tail off when the sun started coming up - but there was still a small group of people dancing at 3pm in the afternoon. Sick stuff.
The night prior to the full moon was also amazing. There was a huge storm but people just carried on drinking and dancing. Standing on a beach with hundreds of people dancing in the rain and lightning illuminating the sky is a pretty sureal experience. It was going well till I jumped into a swimming pool in one of the bars to get a photo with a guy who looked like barack obama - I managed to cut my foot on glass which wasn't too bad till the next morning when it became infected. I visited the local clinic - where the doctor was pretty busy playing with his cat so he WOKE UP the nurse to sort me out. However she got some glass out my foot and sent me away with some antibiotics for 600baht so it all turned out ok.
I'm now on an island called Koh Tao - when we arrived it was Thai new year which meant the streets became one massive water fight. on the open top taxi from the port to the hotel we got covered in water and flour and even the waiters at the restaurant where had dinner pulled a water pistol on us. We spent our first night in beautiful huts which sat out on the rocks - whilst they were cheap it was unbearably hot and filled with mozzies so we've now moved to nicer accomodation.
This afternoon I'm renting a motocross bike to go discover the other side of the island - then tomorrow I'm doing an adventure day which encompasses rock climbing, cliff jumping and scuba diving.
Here in Koh tao for a few more days before heading upto Chang Mai for some Hiking - then home!
