Hello everyone, as this is our first ever blog please bear with us if we gabble on!
We arrived in Hong Kong Sunday 20th Jan and spent the first 10 minutes of our journey running around the airport with overloaded backpacks trying to find our coach. As you can expect Gemma was fuming and yes it was all my fault because i went to the mens!! But we did eventually find our lift and we were on our way.
Our first place of rest was the YMCA on Waterloo Road, As we checked in we were ''upgraded'' to a superior room, I would've hated to see what the standard room was like but it was only to get our head down so we ploughed on. We dumped the bags and headed to Hong Kong Island via the Star Ferry . We we're going to Victoria Peak which over looks the hussle and bussle of Hong Kong. As we we're walking up the slope we were approached by two Monks, they stopped us and gave us two cards which they said would bring us good luck (at a cost) As they got us to write in their book they asked for notes, we realised they were phoneys so i gave 'em about $5 in change (about 33p gutted )!
To access Victoria Peak you can either walk up around 3 million stairs or take the tram, as you can guess we took the tram ($20) This was amazing as it offered a stunning panoramic view across the Island.
We will upload our own photos shortly but you can have a look at the link below.

After all the walking, sight seeing and getting robbed, we decided to take an early night as we we're jet lagged.
Monday morning we again got the star ferry over to Hong Kong Island and followed our top 10 guide for all the sights and attractions around the island.
Tuesday we decided to shake off a few of the many Chinese dinners we have had so we went for a swim in the hotel pool being weiry of any coppers or sailors!
For the evening we went to a few of the various markets around Kowloon, haggled with a few of the locals and stopped of in a dodgy bar for a few shandy's.
Wednesday was time to move onto another Island, Lantau. This was around 40 minutes by boat from Hong Kong and the weather was gettng worse! We got off the ferry and Gemma being the sat nav for the last few day's lead the way to the hotel. As we we're walking along the sea front we could see our hotel in the distance and to me it looked bleek to say the least!!
Silvermine Beach Hotel, i was hoping an old mine would collapse underneath it as we approached but to my suprise it was really clean, friendly & a pleasant place.
We knew we had to do someting today as it was the nicest day so far so we decided to go to BIG BUDDHA and it was huge! 34 meters high and sitting on top of a mountain.
We had 2 nights here and as i write this, it's our last night and we're taking full advantage of the eat and drink all you want for $188 (12 quid!) Yes you guessed it Gemma not only eat more than me but drank more aswell!
Really looking forward to Perth now as it's cold and wet here today and it's in the high 30's there. And yes i will get a tan..
Miss you all xx
