Caught direct train from Kyoto to Himeji where we chose to stop off and see the Himeji Castle, supposed to be the best Castle in Japan. Trekked for about 30mins with our back packs from the station in the blazing sun to get there, so when the lady at the entrance gate offered to take them off our hands whilst we looked around, for a small fee, we happily handed them over te he.

Best castle i've ever seen, very pretty to look at on the outside and the wooden structure inside was fascinating, I feel dad and my bro's would have taken a real interest in the detail used within, really nicely put together, I would love to have that style in my own place back home.

Soooooooo many stairs to get to the top, really pleased we didn't have bags with us as the stairs were quite steep and small gaps so bags would not have fitted anyway, a challenge though. Another work out, my legs must be getting stronger with all this trecking around.

Great place, we really enjoyed it, worth a visit for sure. Now off to Hiroshima.
