Get up - Same * Breakfast - Same * Weather - Same
With that out of the way, we went to listen to the captain explain the inner workings of the ship including navigation, communication and mechanical operation. Using pictures of the ship under construction and from inside the control room, it proved interesting. Apparently, there is a hurricane in the area and he has changed course somewhat to avoid it. I worked some more on the blog but still unable to synch with the website and send it out. I now have October 1-5 in the que ready to go.
A quick lunch snack and off to hear Kainoa discuss the islands of Kauai and Maui, then hanging out people watching for a while. We'll have to return soon to get ready for dinner tonight since it's formal night, one of five throughout our journey. Mom insists that I wear my tuxedo tonight. It's always such a production to get dressed for dinner on Gala Night but Mom loves it. That night, we arrive at 6 to find all tables full and they ask us to return by 7 pm. This screws things up for our 8pm theater show for La Forza from Australia. We'll never complete dinner and make it to the show by 8pm. We hang in a bar for a few minutes but I'm not buying a drink. That would play right into their hands. Impatiently, I return to the maître d where I find our table is ready. Now that's better.
We join two ladies from England who are pissed off at the American Immigration System so there's a story. Another couple join us who are from So. California and travel all the time. Mom loves to tell her stories about the Romanian along with her displeasure with Viking Cruise Lines. The ladies bail out to the show halfway through dinner but we've already conceded to missing the show so we stay and visit longer. We find that the 10pm show has plenty of seats available, with most of our shipmates off to bed already so with no pressure to get seated, we stop for some formal pictures. Later we listen to these three singing guys, La Forza, at 10, who we've seen earlier in the voyage, and then turn in for the night.
One more sea day and it's Hawaii.
