Oh. My. Gosh! Getting up at 3am was not fun!
We met in the foyer at 4am and caught the hotel shuttle to the airport. Out of the 5 of us going on, 4 girls all had overweight bags, but the guy didn't. Go figure. Considering the overweight fee was $100 there was some mad repacking going on! I had to move my jeans and shoes and a few clothes into my carryon. And then I forgot I had my sunscreen in there. It was too many mls for carryon so they confiscated it! Argh so annoying!
Grabbed a bagel and crap coffee at 5am and had to wait for our 6.40am boarding.
We all slept most of the 5 1/2 hour flight and there was no meal.
Our part 2 tour leader Charles met us at Vancouver airport and escorted us on the hotel shuttle bus to our hotel and got us checked in. He seems ok, although like the previous leader, also new to leading - this is his 3rd trek.
We met 1 new girl from our tour at the hotel, so the 6 of us went to a local shopping centre to get food. We were starving since we had not eaten for 10 hours!
We met up with a couple of other newbies at the shopping centre aswell. There's an aussie named Buddy, which is funny coz that's my car's name. And another aussie girl too. I had a great chat with the other new guy James from England. All seem like nice kids.
We got back to the hotel around 5pm, and a few of us went to dinner at 7pm at the nearby casino. Mostly not the newbies as they were all jetlagged.
An early night, got back around 9.30am. It will be great to officially start the tour tomorrow - meeting Charles at 7.30am!
