We had breaky that Charles picked up at the local grocery store, then hit the road around 9ish. We drove an hour to Athabasca Glacier which you can climb. Oh and we saw a black bear beside the road on the way!! Amazing!!
I wasn't sure about doing it, but they said it was easy. It was NOT easy!! We were all rugged up in warm wind breaking clothes, but it was hot, hard work!! Walking uphill on ice! Ok...so it was pretty cool (no pun intended) and I loved what I saw, but unfortunately I had trouble breathing and had to pull out. Not the "I'm so unfit" kind of hard to breathe, coz I had that too, but actually gasping for air as my airways felt like they were closing up! Maybe the extreme cold air? Anyway, buses were taking people to the top, so the guide flagged down a bus and put me on it, so I got a sweet ride the rest of the way up, then down again. It was pretty awesome! And I saw a beaver from the bus (I think it was!).
Afterwards, we drove an hour back to the hostel for a quick freshen up, then off to the town for a 2 hour browse around. There's really not much there!
Then we drove about an hour up the mountain to hot springs (and saw deer and mountain goats and an elk on the way!!) which is pools of natural water from the mountain, and there's various pools of varying temperature. It was nice and relaxing taking in the mountain views while soaking in warm water.
Back to the hostel around 10ish and to bed!
