So arrived in oz, and been here a week! Got to my hostel last monday and just laughed...someone carried my bag up to my room, got in there and was shocked at the mess!! he was like oh it looks like your in with the coaches....that was pretty evident as there was sport kit everywhere and the smell of sweaty trainers was loverly!! i ws thinking hmmm coaches...he told me they were pretty decent guys! so things were looking up! climbing onto the top bunk was funny without a ladder and my short legs..i was still laughing...the bed was the shakiest thing ive ever layed on...and apparently the slats fall through and you fall onto the guy below! interesting way to get to know your room mates i suppose!!! went for a walk around and met a very interesting character in the park next to the beach...was way to hot to lay out so the shade had to do. he was warning me about the pervvy men that wander around the park and beach with their cameras (like to point out i was fully clothed at this point!!)...didnt quite know what to make of that as hadnt slept for thirty hours so decided to leave that area pretty swiftly!! to me it sounded like he was the pervert as he knew so much about it! met my room mates later on...they were decent guys so was happy, one of thems a tennis coach. apparently they had tidied there room...didnt believe them at all! introduced to a new drink called goon...most disgusting drink ive ever drunk....and is 10$ for 4 litres....cheap as chips...but rough...everyone drinks it! went out with people from my room whilst waiting for maya to arrive...exciting!...the man himself dr karl kennedy was performing in the pub below the hostel so went down there for a bit....everyone was going crazy for him. hot stuff!!! ha! maya arrived finally at like 1:30...plane was deloayed and lost her rucksack, bit of a hassel but sorted by the next morning as got delivered. Spent a whole day in melbourne, lovely city, so clean compared to everywhere else. layed in a park by the river, could have slept there alll afternoon! trams run from st kilda (were we are staying) infact trams go everywhere, but you can walk aswell its very easy to get around. tram system is stupid though so easy to blag your ticket, buy it from shops and then you action it on a machine on the tram, but no one ever checks so had my current ticket for the whole week...no doubt ill get busted soon though! went up the rialto tower to see views over melbourne...very sunny day so could see for miles, melbourne CBD very small, but the suburbs are huge. walked some more along the southbank and went to the rod laver arena. everywhere is so close. at this point hadnt quite got into the swing of cooking in the hostel, really hard to think what to cook, sure will get into the swing of it! favourite at the moment pasta with tomato sauce....amazing! still knackered first few days, not sure why as time difference 4 hours...so had afew early nights to catch up...being woken up at all hours in the morning by the coaches coming in wrecked then staying up for ages talking...fine if your drunk and can then get to sleep snoring like thunder, for everyone else not good...and earplugs do not work!!! dorm life is great :) but loving australia! ill write a more informative entry in a few days!
