After leaving June 30th on a 9:20pm flight to London, taking another flight from there to Brussels, and then about four train rides and a tram ride, our group has finally settled in at our first hotel.
It is difficult to even describe the amount of sleep deprivation that I am experiencing, but I think it's safe to say that I've never gone this long without sleep before. A little nodding off here and there on the flight to London and on the train rides, but I have never been so happy to reach a destination. Tons of walking and lugging luggage up and down stairs, up hills and onto trains, but I'm so glad we get to rest for now.
Contrary to what I thought, security and customs were not nearly as cumbersome as I had imagined. Things have definitely changed since my first trip to Europe in 2004, but not just in the countries themselves. This is the first time I'm seeing Europe as an adult and without the guidance and protection of my parents. It's scary but exhilarating. I appreciated my first time to Europe at 15, and I feel truly blessed to be able to come here again and explore new places.
Well, as I said above, I am absolutely exhausted, so until tomorrow, I am going to sleep!
