This morning after eating in the breakfast room of the Chateau, our group and the Brazilian students had class and discussed the sovereignty of the EU. The lecture was very good up until a dozen horn players started to play in the front of the chateau... And playing badly I might add. We were just glad that it was around 11:00am instead of a wake up call.
After the lecture we met up with the Brazilian students and headed into town to visit a museum dedicated to the history of Strasbourg. I took tons of pictures that I will upload later , but there are just too many to do for now. I have updated my France album though.
Strasbourg is right on the border between France and Germany and has been a part of both countries at some point. Much of the architecture reminds me of the buildings in Helen, Georgia that were inspired by French and German designs. Since we didn't have much time between appointments, we grabbed a quick lunch at McDonalds, which was really good and had some menu items that I've never seen in the U.S. for instance, I had a fish wrap that is similar to a filet-o-fish but in wrap form, and it tastes better.
After our museum tour, we took a boat tour of Strasbourg to explore the different historic sights. I was actually able to get an even better photo of the EU parliament building from the boat tour than I was from the bus.
By the time we returned, it was about 7:30pm so we decided to just make a grocery run than to go out and have to wait on dinner. I've been missing my mom's popcorn so I bought a bag of popped corn, but it's nowhere near as good as hers. At times I felt illiterate in the grocery store since everything was in French, but luckily some of the labels include pictures.
I got a little sunburnt today. It's not too bad but the tan lines are horrendous. For some reason my feet tan faster than my legs so it looks a bit stranger, but I'm hoping I won't get burnt anymore while we are here.
During dinner, half of our group ate outside and half of us ate inside with some of the other students from other colleges. I hope we're able to get to know them better tomorrow during our wine tasting visit tomorrow.
Well, I have an early start tomorrow and it's 12:22am here.
So until tomorrow,
Abby
