Well finally hello! a bit belated but oh well. Flights here were good, ive never actually been on a long haul flight so felt like a bit of an amateur. (i didnt know that bags were transfered automatically and started to panic a bit) I managed to get the emails of three people before i'd even left bangkok airport, all blokes naturally, who were travelling too, and just came over and sort of said hello. it gave me a bit more hope that the next seven months won't be totally friendless!
Alex met me at the airport thankgod, its a bit overwhelming to say the least, about a hundred people encouraging you to get into their taxi... We got a local bus and then the immaculate skytrain (puts the underground to shame) After a ten minute walk to the guesthouse, i was bright red and sweating profusely, due to the fact that its about 35 degrees, and my rucksack weighs so much that i can barely carry it. In the evening me and alex went to this bar called vertigo. It was amazing. Its at the top of one of the tallest hotels in bkk, 60 floors up on top of a hotel. Its a totally open air bar and restaurant, and you can see all of bkk. its not cheap but if you go and have one drink its definately worth it for the view.
Walking around bkk was interesting. Everywhere there are food stalls selling god-knows-what. I did gag a couple of times at the smell of things, all part of the experience i suppose.
