IF I CAN - MAKE IT THERE I'LL MAKE IT - ANYWHERE....
We are now in New York City. It's awesome.
We left Boston on Tuesday morning on a dodgy cheap bus - I spent the last half of the trip staring out the window trying to see the New York skyline, and when I spotted it for the first time I felt so sick with excitement I thought i'd puke. We got dropped off in Chinatown, very abruptly, and caught our first (and probably last, if the cost is anything to go by) yellow NY taxi. Very exciting. Lot's of people beep their horns here. They love it.
We stayed in a hotel for the first couple of nights, I think we got thrown in the dodgy room because the heating sucked, out TV didn't work properly (most of the stations we had were in Spanish or fuzzy) and it was just a bit meh. But who cares? We're in NEW YORK!
Our first day trip was to the American Museum of Natural History, which was awesome. The planetarium was very, very cool (and narrated by Robert Redford - oooh), and the butterfly conservatory was also very cool. They had a giant butterfly - like, GIANT. They were all flying around our heads, it was great.
Today we moved from the hotel into a hostel, which to be honest is probably as nice as the hotel (not saying much), at like a quarter of the price. So the most exciting thing ever - today we had lunch at Tom's Restaurant - the diner they used in Seinfeld (well, the outside anyway). The food was terrible and the staff sucked, plus they were flogging off souvenir menus and hats and t-shirts and things (I bought a postcard - there's a sucker born every minute). It didn't matter though. It was the Seinfeld diner. Also the diner referred to in the Suzanne Vega song - "do do do do, do do do do, do do do do, do do do do".
OH, OH! Most exciting thing yet! Yesterday we managed to score tickets to the taping of not one, but TWO tapings of the one and only MAURY POVICH! It's going to be so unbelievably trashy, we can't wait to boo and cheer the transvestites and things, it's going to be AWESOME. Hopefully we get to meet Maury <3
OH, OH! Also exciting - Bob Saget is in town doing a musical on broadway. Double <3 <3 for him. He's the greatest. We must stalk him.
Katie - we took the most awesome picture for you ever, but we can't upload it so you'll have to wait. You would have loved it - we went to a diner for dinner and before our meal they brought out a BIG BOWL OF PICKLES to tide you over until the meal came out. PICKLES!
Woah, all these posts at once - can you handle the heat??
