Despite all six of us being in the same room and noise in the corridor all night, we all got a surprisingly good sleep in the truckers cafe and hotel at the Kazakhstan Uzbekistan border. In the morning there were still several pretty girls hanging about trying to give us the eye. No doubt this is a place where some truckers get more than their breakfast when they stop here.
The petrol for our bikes finally arrives in the morning and we get our six bikes topped up to the top. It's going to be 170 miles to the next petrol station, so we also take spare petrol on the bikes.
A quick breakfast of fried eggs and a funny looking sausage and we are off. For the first 70 miles or so the road is quite rough but not as bad as yesterday. We make steady progress without incident and are made welcome at a roadside cafe and hotel where we stop for a drink - green tea was my choice. Mind you the long drop toilet wasn't too savoury!
I am now feeling better and making sure I am keeping well hydrated today.
Finally after nearly giving up hope we find the petrol station, which isn't very obvious. Then after 270 miles since our journey start today we arrive at Nukus in Uzbekistan. People are so friendly here, amazed to see our bikes and lots of waving and even handshakes at traffic lights. The weather is hot and humid (34C), so it great to shed the bike clothing and get a shower.
In the evening we all went to this men only restuarant, presumably Muslin, where you took your shoes off and kneeled on a cushion around a very low table. Food was good and so was the local beer, a very turbid straw coloured variety. Ice cream for me, Steve, John and Chris at a local cafe finished the night off.
