We set off from comfortable hostel at 630am with no breakfast. I say comfortable it was very hot in the bedroom and with the raging river right next to our bedroom it did not make for a very good sleep.
More of Pamir highway today and we soon start to follow the border of Tajikistan with Afghanistan separated by the fast flowing river. It felt quite strange looking over towards the hills and mountains of Afghanistan, considering all the trouble there has been in the country in the last few years.
It is a glorious day and the road winds along the river, not a place for a dip however as you would soon be swift away and never to be seen again. We have150 miles to do on mainly off road, sand, gravel, mud, bolders and river crossing. You name we got it yesterday, however today was easier with more tarmac, so not such tough going. We arrive at our destination Khorog and find a hotel for the night. Simple but clean. Our bikes get locked up in garage adjoining the hotel, with one notable addition, the hotel owners dog we were warned it does bite, Steve and I do not venture our but eat in the hotel. Just chips for me as I cannot eat the pizza.
We get talking to an English guy who is staying in the hotel and get the lowdown on the expected road coditions tomorrow, very good was the report. A couple of beers and to bed by 1100 pm
