The day started with sunshine and lovely tarmac for about 60 miles miles. We stopped for mid morning milky tea. Then we hit the off road, it was horrendous, if it wasn't deep sand it was severe corrigations, dust, dirt, boulders, you name it we got it. The soft sand was the worst for me and we have 150 miles of this stuff to do. I got stuck in deep sand a couple of times and dropped the bike three times. The Gobi desert revenge! Eventually as the sun was setting we stopped as planned near a stream and set up our tents. It was a relief for me and a welcome rest. Garry boiled water and we all got something to eat (a Wayfayer hot pot meal for me I had carried all the way from England) and a nice cup of tea. I am in my tent writing this and am shattered but great to be camping in the Gobi desert and good that we found a stream in this otherwise very dry place. So I go to sleep with the sound of running water and the rumble of vehicles on the rough road nearby. We have another 100 miles of off road to do tomorrow and pray that there will not be the soft sand that we experienced today.
