"Do you have a universal travel sink plug?" came the call at 02:30 on the morning of our departure.
"Do I look like the kind of guy that has such a thing?" was my smart reply.
Followed shortly after by "Babe, my rucksack has split!" ....and so began our trip around the world....
It turns out that I went to bed at 03:30 with the alarm set for 5:15 and Charlie didn't even bother! Needless to say, we were a bit of a wreck in the morning but fuelled by the excitement of the trip, we set off for the airport.
Before going travelling for any length of time, you have to face up to a few things. The 'life plan', the 'ladder', the 'career'. For us, those things didn't seem to matter much in the run up to going away. What did matter to bother both of us was saying goodbye to our family and friends. You wonder what will happen over the coming months (years even), what you might miss and whether you won't be there when you're needed most.
It's a tough decision and a selfish one, but it's important to live you life and follow your dreams.
