Welcome to Switzerland...the land where cows and goats wear bells, all
the houses are dark brown with green or red shutters and flower boxes
outside each window....the land where cheese flows like wine. So yea,
I am in Switzerland! It is definitely beautiful! It reminds me of
Colorado, but with a European twist. Grindelwald, where I am currently
staying, is a smaller version of Aspen.
I rode the 55 Alive Tourist bus today to see some other towns in the area. I hiked the Alps near Rosenlaui, where there are some amazing waterfalls. Then the water really did start falling, on me. It was a downpour and I tried to wait it out in a little burrow underneath a tree, but it did not let up. Consequently, I hiked back despite getting soaked...I could not be late for my senior citizen bus!! It was a little scary, as I did not see any other hikers on the path and the rocks were really slippery and I could not see because rain drops were caught in my eyelashes. But I made it!!
I visited some other towns in the Interlaken area, and I must say that I was prepared for the forward men in Italy...which really did not happen much, but was caught off guard with these Swiss boys. I must be starting to look like a local, because ever since I have been in Swiss country, I have been asked for directions a lot...or maybe it is because I yodel as I walk through town.
You know those touristy stores that have license plates or whatever with names on them. Mine is never there, not even the misspelled version. I saw one today, and it was even spelled correctly!! My life is finally complete!!
The three famous peaks (Eiger, Monch & Jungfrau) are all visible right from my hostel window. I am off to suck on Riccola and yodel in the streets!
