Lance and I ventured to Lantau Island to see the enormous Buddha. The 112 ft. tall, 250 ton statue is in the midst of lush, rolling hills. We took a cable car to the island, riding over the sea and hills. I was hoping to spot a pink dolphin along the way, but they must have been busy swimming with the fishes. Anyway, the statue is so amazing! Both the magnitude and detail of the statue left us in awe. You may notice from the pictures that the Buddha has a swastika emblem adorning his chest. The swastika represents eternalization, peace and harmony, and did long before the Nazis corrupted its meaning. There were also six smaller statues, each offering a different gift, in front of the Buddha.
