Exploring day and to the peak with Richard
Set off around 10am. Went to a local tea shop that had been there for 100s years and one type of tea coat £5,000! No I didn't buy it! 2 mins walk to Wan Chai local market here to market was an eye opener. 100s of alive crabs behind glass all tied up ready to buy. Chickens foot, pigeon, pig snout....:anything the list went on. Also alive chickens. You chose which one you wanted they would kill it there and then ready for you to take home your chosen chicken.
Lunch - Richard and I had some Char Sueu from the market which was yummy honey roasted park with rice.
Then on to Pak Tai temple. Missed the bus to the peak so we hopped in a taxi to race the bus to its next stop. We made it! The bus journey was a great ride to the top with a few steep/ sheer drops off the sides! Amazing views of the concrete jungle! Got the tram back down which was very steep - made my ears pop.
Walked through the city of Hong Kong (city statue square).
Hopped onto the star ferry to get to the Kowloon side (5 minute ferry). Walked along the water front "avenue of stars".
Here we walked 3 minutes from the most expensive hotel (the peninsular) to chunkin mansions (the cheapest hostel) which were on top of a market.
Headed to sogo shopping mall and went to Morton's a nice cocktail bar with free yummy steak mini rolls. On route back to the star ferry back to Hong Kong island we walked along the avenue of stars and the city was all lit up, really pretty. Arrived on Hong Kong island and went up mid levers (escalator) to a bar called la picular where we had a drink and mezze with Richard's friend Andrea.
