Hey you guys!
We are sooooo sorry we havent updated for what seems like forever! We have either been travelling or had trouble finding an internet place. Hope you brought your reading glasses cuz this is gonna be a long one!
First off, we have lots of Birthday wishes to send out. So in Birthday order,Happy Birthday to Mark, Carly, Mim, Lauz, and last but not least Hannah!!! Hope you all have or have had a wonderful day! Plus you can now relax as we haven't forgotten about you!!!
We landed in L.A, about 3weeks ago, and were soon whisked off to Hollywood! This is where we resided amongst the rich and the famous. Our hostel was on Hollywood Boulevard no less!! You know, the walk of fame street with all the stars on the floor. (Check out the photo's) Across the street from us high on the hills was the famous Hollywood hills sign. Also not far away was the famous Gruman's Chinese Theatre. You may know this from the stars putting their hands in the concrete at the entrance, or from Borat where the small fat guy is impersonating Laurel or Hardy in front of that big Chinese place. Honestly, outside the entrance there were many people dressed up as famous people, and Kerry even got attacked and chased by a midget dressed up as Chucky!
The next day we took a tour of the Hollywood homes. It was mad, all the homes were amazing! and very pricey! We went to Beverly hills, sunset strip, and Rodeo drive where Kez did a bit of shopping(window shopping). The dude that owns the company Guess has 12 ferrari's outside his house, plus Dr.Dre's car collection wasn't too bad either! When we were down sunset strip we spotted Kanye West doing a spot of lunch.
One more exciting thing that happened whilst we were in L.A, was that Kez got her tongue pierced! PAIN!
Next we headed down the Californian coast to San Diego. Here we tried our luck getting into a bar, and succeeded in only one place-An Irish bar no less! It is really hard to get into places and we were starting to get alcohol withdrawal symptoms. We worked out that we hadn't gone a day without a bevvy until America!
There was a lovely park in San Diego, check the pic's, it was called Balboa park we don't think it was named after the legend! Being the intellectuals that we are we visited the natural History museum and the old globe theatre. Later that night we indulged in the American phenomenum of chinese in a box. This was something Kez really wanted to do! And Girls plus Mark you will be happy to know whilst in San Diego we purchased some brand spanking new straightners-yay!!
After a few days in San Diego, we headed for the last country of our tour Mexico! We went down the Baja penisular. Sam tried to set the map so you could see it. It is the tail heading down from San Diego but not the main part of Mexico. Baja is the deserty part of Mexico, and God did we see some Cacti!!!
Our first destination was a place called Ensenada, which has the biggest mexican flag in the world there! It is filled with bars and clubs as it's not too far from America all the underage and legal Yanks come here for cheap booze! It was a great place to be for Paddy's day, lets just say we celebrated it in style!
We tried our first real taste of Mexican food- Steve you would love it here they serve jalepinos on everything. These aren't your average chillies though they blow your brains off! Sam was loving the spice whereas Kez's head was going a strange colour of red! The mexican beer isn't too bad either, you thought the corona at home was good- here is even better!!!
As we arrived here we soon realised that they don't speak much English, and by much i mean none at all. Kez's spanish has been severly put to the test here, whilst Sam looks on gormlessly.
We then headed down Baja on a beautiful 10 hour bus ride to a little town called Guerrero Negro. This place is infamous for its migratory Grey Whales. We even got to go on a boat here out into this lagoon where they shelter with their newborn. It was amazing we were only feet away from these amazing creatures. The little babies were well cute, and i say little they were abouy 12feet already!!
Other than the whale watching there isn't much else to do in Guerrero Negro so after a few days we headed further south to a town called Loreto. This Town has loads of old historical buildings from the spanish era. We walked down the malecon (a promenade) and we saw some crazy ass pelicans. There was loads of them in the harbour, and no joke they fly up really high and then dive bomb into the water and reappear with a fish. Really strange to watch them!
After a couple of relaxing days in Loreto we headed down to La Paz. This is the capital of Baja, and so much bigger than the other places. But still no English being spoken!! The sea side was great but the sunsets were even better. Would of been so easy to lose yourself here! We enjoyed the local tequila bars- there is millions of them along with taco stands. Unfortunately Sam got ill while we were there, and was spilling from every hole possible! wasn't pleasant i'll tell you. Therefore, we were limited to the room for a couple of days which was a bummer. But he has recovered now which is a good thing!
We flew from La Paz to Mexico city yesterday, on a really small plane! This is the capital city of mexico with like 22 million people living here, it is crazy! And soooo busy! Upon arriving here we went in search of some normal food(as you easily get bored of mexican) and strangely found a Pizza hut! our saviour! That's about all we can tell you for now until we start our next adventure!
We will in touch soon hopefully!! Hope you all are well, and keep blogging!
Love ya, Bye
Sam and Kez
