Today we had a free morning till our 2:30pm pick up for our flights to Arequipa.
The Dragoman tour has officially come to an end and people are either traveling on under their own arrangements, going back to their countries or continuing on, on a new tour (Cusco to Lima) with the bus. Everyone met for breakfast to say their goodbyes and after waving our new friends off on the bus we headed into Cusco for a free walking tour. I have to say I'm totally impressed with Dragoman and hope at some stage to do another bus trip with them.
Unfortunately the guide for the 10:30am free walking tour did not turn up (and we could not really ask for our money back, lol) so after a quick consult of our guide book we headed to see the Temple of the Sun.
The Temple of the Sun, fuses Inca and Spanish architecture (thanks to the Spanish who destroyed most of the original inca achievements) We once again marveled at how the incas manage to construct walls of perfectly cut stones to all align with no mortar needed, incredible. We actually hired a guide to take us around the Temple for a private tour which turned out to be great since she was one of the best guides we'd had on the trip. Some of the Spanish paintings and art work were amazing and having a guide helped understand what was going on .
After the Temple we had a quick lunch and headed back to the hotel for our pick up. We had an uneventful flight from Cusco to Arequipa (with a stop in Juliata) and arrived out our hotel (Casa Andina) around 7pm. Unfortunately I'm sick, I've a rather nasty cold and have actually lost my voice. We went out for some dinner (ate savory crepes, yummy ) then picked up some cold medicine and returned to the hotel for an early night.
