We slept in till 9 am, had breakfast then were going to make our way to a city walking tour. Unfortunately for me an ATM stole my credit card when I was trying to get some cash out and in the process of trying to deal with this we missed the morning tour.
I knew from having dealt with banks in the DR and Mexico getting this card back was going to be a big issue and it turned out to be such. I wasted quite a few hours of the day, having to visit two banks and having to revert to crying and throwing myself at the mercy of the bank officials to get the card back, otherwise they were telling me it would be 48 hours! Not much use considering tomorrow I move on to Copacabana.
Besty and I did some shopping in the markets and she went off to make the 3pm city tour while I sorted out the bank card stuff. When I finally got it back I celebrated with a coffee and some chocolate cake. A very frustrating and wasted day but I had to get the card back as its my only source of cash for this trip.
At 6pm we met the group that we would be spending the next 10 days with as part of the Intrepid trip we had booked from the US. Intrepid actually outsourced the package to Dragoman (which I later learnt was a British company). I was praying that we would not be surrounded by a load of 20 something year old British backpackers and as I turned out my prayers were answered as it was a nice mixed group with 12 people of all ages from the UK, Australia and USA. Noel and Owen our trip leaders went through what we could expect the next few days and after that we all went for a group dinner to an excellent steak restaurant in La Paz.
