Raj: The last couple of weeks in London has been extra special for me. A key part of us making this trip was to reconnect (and in some cases connect for the first time) with my side of the family. Being in NZ has precluded this, and now I realise just what I've missed all these years. We have been incredibly well looked after here - treated as royals in a country of royals. Everyone has put us first, with their time and generousity in ways that I cannot begin to explain. We've enjoyed good company, fine food and drink together. It was especially nice to have celebrated my cousin Yogi's 50th birthday party on the weekend with wider family and their friends. I did finish the night on JD Honey Whisky shots before sensibility (and a comment or 2 from Vikki) got the better of me! My hope now is that people can make the trip to NZ and Wellington one day so the hospitality can be returned. What stands out for me is the utmost sincerity everyone has for us, in particular because of Kanti (my dad) who is looked up to with such high regard by his immediate and extended family. So I'm feeling very humble and proud right now, because of family.
We are now getting ready to leave for Europe tomorrow for 3 months (half our trip). We have a car (with GPS!) for most of that time and I know Vikki is looking forward to driving. The kids are very much looking forward to a return to swimming. I'm also very excited as Europe (outside Paris) is brand new to me - better late than never. So, follow us on our next leg of adventure. Au revoir!
