Raj: It's been an amazing past few days touring the island of Paros on quad bikes and swimming at the various beaches in crystal clear azure waters. I have to say these are the best sandy beaches so far (Croatia had the best rocky beaches), and is comparable to the Yasawa Islands in Fiji (we stayed there when Vikki was pregnant with Harley). It's been just perfect and very relaxing snoozing, reading, swimming and repeating the cycle. Getting around the island on quad bikes was fun, particularly for the kids, as we had freedom to roam and stop at will. The temperature has been constantly hot but bearable, the nights pleasant and clear, dining outside and watching the sun go down behind calm, sparkling waters. As the holiday season has quietened, we've enjoyed talking with many people we have met from other parts of the world, including a kiwi from Plimmerton! All who have been to Paros before rate the island as one of the best and so keep coming back. I hope one day we can come back too.
Vikki: As Raj said above, the clear blue waters and hot sunny days have been the bomb. Quad bikes were a fun way to see the island, though driving on the main roads with cars zooming past was freaky at times. The beaches here have been by far the clearest water we have seen yet. Standing in the water you can see your toes clear as day, and watch the fish swimming around your legs. The locals are friendly, food is great and it has been nice not cooking and being able to eat out each night. There is great nighttime atmosphere, not a huge party area where we are, but lots of restaurants on the beach, with many people out and about eating till all hours. Would definitely recommend this island as a must see to all and agree with Raj (shock horror), I would love to come back again one day. As we leave today for our next island Naxos, I'm sure we'll be just as enchanted there too.
Harley: Over the time that we have been in Paros the highlights have been swimming in crystal clear waters and hiring quad bikes. Two days ago we hired 2 quad bikes to ride around the island. I had to wear a pink helmet :( First we drove to the Ancient Marble Quarry, where from 6BC they mined marble. We went down a goat track to get a closer look at the deep and dark mine shaft. Then we drove to a beach where we did lots of swimming in the crystal clear water. On the way back we stopped at a supermarket and bought a big ice cream. Yesterday we took a boat over to the other side of the island to a beach called Marchello. We went in and out of the warm water all day long. For dinner we went to a place called Cactus, and I had a yummy quesadilla for dinner. After dinner I got some new board shorts.
Anouk: Over the last few days in Paros we have been wandering the roads and beaches and swimming in really clear water. One of the highlights was 2 days ago, when we rented 2 quad bikes and explored the island. My favourite time was sitting on the back of the bike and swimming in different beaches. Riding on the quad bike was fun because we got a nice breeze along the way, we saw some great views and we stopped at some great and fun beaches. We went to two beaches and I liked the second beach better because the water was crystal clear and it was fun playing in the sand. Yesterday we got on a small boat and went to a nice beach to spend the rest of the day there. We went out and saw a whole lot of fish swimming everywhere. In the parts where I could stand up we could see fish about the size of my dad's foot. I really enjoyed Paros and I hope that one day I'll come back.
