Fran got her own back for taking her round Leshan when she was suffering from a cold - she gave me the cold (except mine is obviously Avian bird flu from last nights chicken!). It was fortunate that we had planned an easy day today - catching up on chores and seeing a bit of the city. The first stop was a haircut for me - Fran is fed up with me looking like some nutty professor. We found a barbers and I asked for a haircut (in sign language). I was told to lie down whilst he washed my hair, gave my head a massage and sorted out my ears. I was then sat in a chair whilst we tried to get him to understand how it was to be cut (me with sign language and Fran in English). Eventually it was cut and the result was not too bad - all for a cost of 10 Yuan (£0.80).The next stop was get Fran a pedicure. Finding a nail place proved a bit more difficult - we had to go into the centre of the city which meant a bus ride. We found a nail bar and Fran was pleased with the result - but at a cost of 9 times my hair cut - such extravagance! We came home via the Peoples Park - a place with a lake, lots of tea houses, Karaoke, Mahjong, choir practice and keep fit classes. All life goes on in Chinese parks.
