The Planning Stage
London, UK
This time last year I was in Disneyland Paris. In two weeks time I will be back there for the 20th anniversary.
Had I written a trip report last year it would have been entitled; "The one with the broken Camera and ill-fitting footwear" and while I had a fantastic time, I am hoping to improve on the experience this year. Of course, this trip could quickly become known as: "The one with all the rain" if the forcasts are accurate.
This year will be the first trip for my fiancé. Now, it's fair to say he is not a Disney fan. He has only seen a handful of films, and has never been to a Disney park. Basically, the only reason he is going on this trip is because of me J
Now, as much as I love the characters, I am hoping to prove to my fiancé that Disney is about more than just that.
We watched the channel five preview show of Dreams a few weeks ago and he said that "he would like to see that live" so I live in hope that he won't spend the entire trip bored or in the hotel room watching tv.
I am a planner. I like maps and lists, so I have already figured out our itinerary.
The (basic) plan is as follows:
Tuesday 5th June:
Travel to London, Stay overnight.
(I will admit now that when I booked this holiday I was not aware that it was a double bank holiday because of the Jubilee and also UK school holidays, so potentially a huge planning fail!)
Wednesday 6th June:
8am Eurostar so an early start for us. We will probably pick up sandwiches and drinks from a supermarket on the way to the station since this is likely to be our last budget buy for the week. Have you seen the prices of food in Disneyland?
We arrive at DLP around 12pm and will go straight to our hotel. With a bit of luck our room will be ready, but if not at least we can check in and hopefully get our choice of breakfast times.
We will either leave our bags at the left luggage or check into our room.
Next stop, Main Street USA!
Thursday 7th June:
Main Park today, maybe with a mid-afternoon break back at the hotel so we can stay awake for Dreams later...i get that it has to be dark for the show, but 8am until 11:30pm is a long time to potentially be in the park. (I do work 14 hour shifts normally though, so i am used to long days!)
Friday 8th June:
Studios Park, with possibly going into the main park later to see dreams.
Saturday 9th June:
Val d'Europe and SeaLife Centre.
I think my fiancé will have had his fill of Disney by now so I figured we had better have a little change here. We're working our way round the UK sealifes so it will be nice to see the French counterpart.
I will likely want to see dreams again this evening, he probably won't!
Sunday 10th June:
Our last day L We only have a half day in the parks so likely will stick to the main park and just repeat some favourite rides.
Though of course I have it written out in much more detail to take with me (what can I say, I like to plan.)
I have two semi-disappointments already:
1) The weather…I am thinking that I may swap my canvas shoes for wellies if there isn't a change in the forcasts of thunderstorms and rain.
2) The uncertainty over the start date for Tarzan. I love this show…like actually have an audio copy on my ipod love, and I have only ever seen it once.
