Arrived at The Bay Hotel, where we are all staying for our trip and all went to check in. The only room ready was the girls' room. This was a triple bedded, windowless shoe box cell with plastic see through toilet/shower slapped into the corner of the room facing the doll's house sized 3 coat hangered cupboard section, crammed into it was also 2 bedside cabinets and a vanity unit complete with oversized CHAIR. Not enough room to swing a cat let alone sleep 3 adult ladies. This is certainly a room that any estate agent would describe as "compact and bijoux" lol.
We manoeuverd our cases into the room strategically like playing a Chinese puzzle, the only hanging place for our clothes apart from the quarter cupboard space is the see through plastic wall divider between the toilet and shower cubicle. Diane who tried to Feng Shui the furniture to maximise the space decided that the best place for the chair would be to put it in the corridor, after conducting a health and safety risk assessment that showed that the fire exit was not the best place to shove it, we brought it back into the room and put it on Diane's bed. Having re-evaluated the situation we decided that maybe Diane would like to use her bed for sleeping and as we are generous caring souls and thought that Gary's chair might like a friend we dumped it on him.
The ladies got changed and left the room letting the men use their room for the cases and to get changed too as theirs weren't yet ready.
Puzzle - How many cases can you fit into a shoe box/cell....... answer 9 and hand luggage !! The room looked like a bomb had exploded in it.
We all met in the foyer and went into China Town for yet more food and drinks. The weather was sub-tropical, very humid and then rained, so got wet but was warm rain and didn't deter us from the day's events.
Our first experience on the underground was hassle free thanks to Sensei Frank Burlingham. A debate was had and the census was to order food by the pretty pictures and share between us all in China Town. Very successful and enjoyable meal. Bit of shopping and then return journey on the underground.
The rain hadn't subsided and puddles had appeared, being adults (like they are not) Jackie and Rose decided to soak each other with the raindrops that had landed of the forna and flora (green bushes to everyone else), which got them even giddier and they decided to jump into the puddles, however, an oops a daisy moment occurred. Rose thinking she would soak Jackie and vice versa, jumped simultaneously into a large puddle soaking Sensei Paul Derrick, all that can be said is that he has a good sense of humour - luckily !!
Went back to the hotel, all rooms now ready. Suitcases surgically removed and relocated. Everyone needing to catch up on sorely missed sleep, meeting arranged for 18.00 hours precisely in the lobby with Frank Burlingham and Luba.
Everyone met again and Kitty money handed out, taxis organised and rendezvous point arranged in Clarke Quays for a relaxing evening of yet more food and drink.
Hamburger, chips and beer for all whilst taking in the ambience and panoramic vistas of the beautiful Clarke Quays by night.
Evening finished with night cap in the hotel bar and everyone retiring to their rooms for a long overdue rewarding sleep.
Breakfast arranged for 8.30 tomorrow morning.
