Ithala Game Reserve, KZN, SA
We awoke to a dull grey day so enjoyed our included breakfast (this was a nice surprise) and ventured out. Being winter the bush is dry and scrubby and with no sunshine it's difficult to spot game. The park is well laid out with 2 lovely picnic areas with tables & full bbq facilities and of course toilet block. Once we got our eyes adjusted we saw Impala, red hartebeest, zebra, gorgeous male kudu & a very angry elephant. Since I was driving practicing my 4x4 and did not feel like reversing round a bend at high speed we hastily retreated. The drizzle set in so we returned to our cabin for lunch & a few chores. Drizzle stopped and R got the bbq fire underway just as a 'load shed' occurred. No problem as we enjoyed the darkness listening to the bush babies & watching the fire. We also have a rechargeable light so are sorted. Another great night before we rejoin the real world tomorrow of deadlines, bookings and places to be.
