Ithala Game Reserve to Gillitts, KZN to Ballito Bay
Wednesday dawned warm & sunny so we did a loop around the game reserve, and we rewarded with blue wildebeest, zebra and lots of warthog families who were too cute for words. Eventually dragged ourselves away set off for Kloof. We took a route thru KZN that R had last travelled over 30 years ago. Not a lot had changed - still vast farms of sugarcane & associated worker areas. The roads have taken a bit of a pounding over the years and are quite potholed.
It was my turn to drive which was great coming down the north coast & we agreed to swap just before the ring road major intersection as its was coming up peak traffic & there are major road works. However our timing was a bit delayed so R did an amazing job navigating me through the traffic & we arrived at Elise & Robs in time for a cuppa. It was lovely to catch up after 17 years - it was just like we saw each other yesterday.
Over the next 2 days we covered all the happenings over the years and Elise took us on a tour of their gated estate and around a few of the others she was able to access. The growth around Gillitts/ Kloof/ Hillcrest is amazing. We caught up with an old friend of my late Dads ... I was really pleased to be able to do that. We met at Makaranga Garden KZN for lunch & afterwards enjoyed a walk around the gardens & admired the Zimbabwean sculptures.

Saturday morning saw us doing a 5km ' park walk ' (Elise & I chatted our way around)
