Reading the paper for the second day in a row! I know amazing isn't it!
However I realise now why I don't usually read one more than once a week, it's because they repeat the same story over and over through the week. The same story just get expanded and other people commentate on the same story ... I don't know why they don't wait til the end of the week and just report the whole thing?
Anyway, this very sad story if the giraffe getting 'culled' at Copenhagen zoo. So vet sad that such a beautiful animal should be treated this way :(
Today's reporting goes into greater detail on the reasons why..... Long term preservation of the species, preventing future abnormalities, the wrong genes etc etc
I'm muttering to myself 'hmmm first they get us to believe its in the name of protecting and animal species, next thing you know they will be justifying culling whole estates worth if humans in the name of protecting the species'. Remembering, of course, that England were further ahead with the eugenics programme in the 1920's than Germany, albeit more quietly. It was only in 1970's that enforced sterilisation ended, in this country, for some groups.
I digress.... Going back to my internal rant about eugenics when's usenet my mind is changed completely and I can see all justification for selective breeding right beside me. Rather I can hear the justification! Flappy fffff'in birds! If, father of 4 small children, you must sit next to me, ignoring your rampaging children who are in the bar running over the pool tables screaming and whining at the top of their voices while you play Flappy birds on your iPhone (other smart phones also available) please take the time to enter the settings and turn off the sounds!
Oh and by they way your youngest child has just gone out into the smoking terrace, assuming at 3 years old he hasn't gone out to smoke, I would be concerned he has had enough of the continual Ping ping beep of your flappy birds game and he too is in favour of selective breeding and might just jump off the balcony.
