Lucky us! We scored another day in Broome. Spent the day playing footy on the beach, swimming and soaking up the sun. Went into the Tourist Info Centre to find out the condition of the road to Windjana Gorge and were told it was badly corrugated and basically in need of grading ASAP. Ok, so bearing in mind the expenses and hassles we had at the beginning of the trip we have decided that the Gibb River Road is just not going to happen for us at this point in time. We still have plenty more to see and just don't want to spend time waiting around with a broken car, like so many others we have met on this trip! Easy decision really, less stressful than taking the hard road and we will be happy to continue our trip with car, camper and sanity intact!
So the plan for tomorrow is about a 550km drive to a beautiful free camping stop called Mary Pools, then head for Lake Argyle the next day. Big drive ahead, early to bed tonight and early start tomorrow. :)
