Riding a bicycle as a European in China feels like having superpowers and eating spicy food here has degrees from very spicy to nearly fatal.
We got a message from the International Office that we had to meet her and then record a movie today. When we went there after the first class, we met Rulis (the Finnish guy from Tampere) and a foreign teacher from Africa. Just none of us knew what the movie would be about or what we would have to do or say.
First up was the teacher, he just had to stand outside and talk to Chinese students. So that it seemed like he was giving a lecture. He also had to sit in the park with the group, pretending to have classes outside. Meanwhile we found out that we don't have to say anything in the movie, it was just about the movie and to show that the university also has international students. This is going to be the promotional movie of the university.
When it was our turn we had to ride the yellow bicycles around the campus. They'd chosen a road which was good for the movie and we had to ride our bikes there. It took us four times before it was actually good. The next part was to walk with our bikes and also this one we did several times. It drew quite some attention from several people when we were recording the movie with a whole camera crew and a team of directors. I think it was good that it was recorded during class and as soon as it ended we had to go back. Otherwise we would probably end up taking photos with many people, but participating in this movie was already enough attention for today.
After another intensive lecture of Money and Banking it was time to go to the English corner to join a group and to speak in English. The topics are always free to choose and it is a two-hour English pronunciation training. At some point we ended up talking about the lines on the palm of your hand and what they mean. I don't remember exactly what every line supposed to mean, but they are for love, health, career, money and a few others. According to them all the lines are very large so that is good, except for the line for money. I don't have that one which basically means that I wouldn't have any money.
For dinner I had a hotpot again but this time I took the spicy one. There are six levels of spiciness and I took the second one. The first one was without spices and this one was 'a little spicy'. I think that this was the spiciest food that I have ever eaten. It was so spicy that I couldn't even eat everything, which was just not good. That was a little spicy, and then there is also medium, normal, very and extremely spicy. I think that'll be lethal for me. Another experience, but this time not such a good one.
