None of us move very quickly this morning and by the time we are outside a few light showers are coming, meaning we put out our awnings for shelter.
So impressed were we with our chops last night, Ali and Grete return to the shop and get sausages, bacon and burgers for our 'fat-boy' dinner tonight. Paul, the warden, says he is impressed and envious by how well we cater for ourselves. In the afternoon he arrives on his buggy and gives us four huge duck eggs to go with our meat tonight.
In the afternoon we go for a walk in the layby then heat up Exton hill past some well tended gardens, one with pink poppies. We try the footpath on the opposite side of the river through woods with lush ferns and scores of wild flowers. Hiding in a bush we spot a fledgling dunnock who seems to be trying to call or feed, its beak moving but no sound. We know not to try touching it so leave it be and hope it will survive. The track gets too rough so we return to site.
Later afternoon it starts drizzling, and by early evening the rain is heavy. A young couple are setting up tent in the downpour as we settle in to cook our goodies, transforming them into a coronary on a plate!
