We make use of the water to wash windscreens and top up again, then leave the campsite at Montolieu at 11:20 to head up the steep hill through Montolieu and onto Saissac. From a panoramic viewpoint we look down over the medieval fortress and town climbing out of the rocks.
As we approach Carcassonne Grete comes on the radio an says to look left, snow on the Pyrenees in the distance. Carcassonne is a busy sprawling city but as we cross the river we see the old walled town above. The motorhome parking is free for 1 hour then €5, but there's no way to get there and back in an hour as it's about 3/4mile away. Ali and Grete walk down and when they return they agree it's better from the outside and very commercialised. We have lunch in the carpark before continuing on our way towards Bezier.
More vineyards, some with roses at the end of the rows, others with wild poppies and other flowers on the verges. In other places we follow the route of the Midi canal. We stop in Capestang at Intermarche for some groceries then head for tonight's stop. As we approach we can see the huge cathedral at Bezier in the distance.
We arrive at Domaine Mi Cote, meet the owners and park up before walking down for degustation. They have 12 hectares of Grenache grapes and produce blanc, gris [between blanc and rose], syrah and merlot. The more we sample the easier it gets to communicate. We each buy a mixed case of 6 bottles at less than €4/bottle. Back in the van we have chicken salad with a bottle of blanc just bought.
As it gets dark we can see Bezier cathedral lit up behind us.

Rog. Thought you may end up in Beziers at some time during the expedition as it's the home of Roche Mazet. Pleased you're enjoying the trip (with the exception of noisy cockerels), keep up with the interesting blogs.
