We woke up to another beautiful sunny day with the birds singing and the bloody mozzies biting.
We had an easy morning which l think everyone appreciated. Packed up after breaky and then went down for a bath in gunshot creek. I convinced Marty to hold a towel up while l stripped off for a nudie bath. Felt so good, feels like forever since l had been able to wash without bathers on.
We headed off to Fruit Bat Falls, nice easy drive. It only took an hour with the road being a little corrugated at the end. We all headed off down the boardwalk down to the falls. It was spectacular! There was a vast wide shallow creek that just spilled water down to a lagoon. Clear soft water that felt so smooth on your skin. After our swim we had a picnic lunch at the car. We are running out of food now and have learnt the value of not chucking out any left overs. We are a little worried that we will run out of supplies but hopefully we can extend everything until we get to the ships at Bamaga in three days.
Anyway the others were still swimming and having lunch so 'the Germans' and us headed off to Elliot Falls. After a while we noticed we were on the wrong road. We turned around and finally got on the right one, so our head start ended up being useless. We were now behind the 'Geelong Crew'. We got to a short water crossing which was deep so we put a tarp on 'the germans' jeep. We headed thru no worries, then the Germans started thru. Barbara was driving and all was going well until she gunned it in the deepest part and the tarp flew up. By the time she was thru the water the jeep stopped, water logged. A kind man walked across and gave us some aerostart which brought the car back to life. We continued on to Elliot Falls and arrived at a camp sight. We all set up by 3:30pm. Angie got us all started on some party tricks which was a laugh and also a bit strenuous!!! She then got me and Kerry and taught us how to make bread which we later cooked in the camp oven. Angie then used the left over bread dough and got all the kids together to make donuts. Learning heaps of cooking tricks from her which is great. The Germans also made everyone sone flat garlic bread which was beautiful.
We got the kids to bed and settled around the camp fire to have a yarn and giggle before heading to bed at 11pm. Overall another fantastic relaxing day with great mates.
