Today an finally going to do one of my bucket list items. Going to visit the Anne Frank museum. After breakfast at McDonald's I walked there early in morning. Best to pre book these. There are two queues. One for pre booked and one for on the day booking.
As you go in they do a half hour talk in the museum part of it. You can use camera in this part only. The talk was an excellent talk and detailed the chronology of the Frank family. Afterwards you walk through into the house along a set route. It is a very tall long building so allow a few hours for your tour round it all. Quite a sombre but thought provoking experience especially seeing the excerpts from her diary and the family rooms and how they survived. Most definitely worth a visit especially if you are into history and war which I am.
Strolled around the precincts and visited the shopping centre called magna plaza. Exquisite building and very majestic inside. Then found a local market nearby and treated myself to local cuisine (herring). Then I went around the canal through the famous red light district. Lots of views but didn't participate.
Plenty of shops to visit and still plenty of opportunities to get run over by cyclists. Lots of churches and museums to visit so well worth visiting Amsterdam. Now heading to hotel to prepare for next day travelling to Berlin.
