Our goal today is to drive 233 miles to Lake Powell near Page, AZ. On the way is Four Corners. This is the site on Navajo land where the state lines of Arizona, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico meet and of course we had to stop.
The entrance to the site is actually in the New Mexico side. We drove from Colorado into Arizona and turned into New Mexico all within a minute. After paying the $5 admission fee per person, we parked and were on our way to the center spot at the plaza.
The plaza is surrounded by shops run by the Navajo selling all sorts of crafts, from jewelry to ceramics to dream catchers and we could not deprive ourselves the opportunity to help the local economy. The jewelry was very pretty composed of mainly Turquoise and their horse hair ceramic was really nice. Browsing the real thing helped me see the fakeness of the ones at the commercial gift shops in the area. There is nothing like the real thing and the prices reflected that.
We finally got a turn to snap pictures at the popular location. Now we can say we have stood in four places at once.
The drive to Page area was very interesting. The landscape is nothing like I have seen before. My previous road trip through Arizona was in darkness in the middle of the night. There were hoodoos and some interesting rock formations pocking right out of the ground.
