My time in Peru has come to an end. It's been a learning-filled month: the culture, language, lifestyle, people etc. have given me wonderful knowledge, insight, and most importantly incredible memories. My time in Peru can be summed up by the things that I will miss and those that I will not.
What I'll miss about Peru…
*walking everywhere (I think I took three taxis the whole time I was there)
*the fruit--the fruit here is incredible especially the prickly pears (fruit from a cactus) and most all Peruvian food; I took one Peruvian cooking class but it tastes much better when someone else is cooking!
*all the markets
*the exchange rate
*Oscar--one of the cooks at school who is one of the happiest people I've ever met
*class even though it was very trying and I've succumbed to the fact that I will never be as good as I'd like at Spanish L & the teachers
*dancing, dancing, dancing--after two salsa classes I can "kind of" do the basic steps but in general enjoyed all the countless nights of dancing
*"the box"—some kind of musical instrument & the guy who plays it
*Bembos—an upscale fast food restraunt where I ate "The Mexicana" sans the beef…you can't go wrong with guacamole, tomato, cheese, Doritos and lettuce
*Incatean, my favorite place to dance! Km0, where my favorite band plays, Paddy's, a good place to a get a drink and everyone speaks English
*Sublime—a yummy candy bar
*attempting to be a Cinceano futbol player groupie, #15 & #11 J
*having my laundry sent out
*being part of a more simple way of life
*the passion for religion
*ALL of the AMAZING people
*eating al fresco everyday
*being greeted with smooches
Things I won't miss about Peru...
*rice & pasta —way too much rice & pasta is consumed
*the street vendors—more specifically those offering massages, watercolor paintings, or soliciting for a restaurant
*sticking out like a sore thumb!, thank the lord I don't have blonde hair because it makes it that much worse
*the altitude & with it being out of breath all the time; along those lines, the five sets of stairs to get to my room
*less than warm showers; makes me very much so appreciate hot showers
*watching the Superbowl with people who don't understand football
