Morro de Sao Paolo, supposedly a beautiful secluded island with no traffic and beautiful beaches. Whilst some of that was true it actually turned out to be quite overpriced and touristy.
After a pretty choppy 2 hour ferry across from Salvador we arrived to groups of men with wheel barrows. We had heard about them as they use them to carry visitors luggage to their accommodation. After finding ours was a 25 minute walk away in 32 degree heat, we thought when in Rome and enquired (did someone say flash packer). Once we paid a guy the equivalent of £5, a kid of no older than 13 and smaller than Alice took our bags and off he went. Needless to say we felt pretty guilty, especially as we struggled up a few of the hills ourselves.
We stayed in Black White hostel which is a party hostel mainly for Israeli and Argentinians. In fact I think we were the only Europeans on the island and it's known for being a big Israeli destination with all the signs also in Hebrew.
After a couple of days spending too much money on average food and a few trips to the beach it was time to pack our bags and head to Itacaré, a surfing destination a few hours south.
